Who buys clothes at Sears?

Really. Who buys clothes at Sears? Well, I live in the Boston area where thankfully we have lots of shopping options. I popped in there to look for a chain for a pendant 'cause they were having a jewelry sale (hm, who buys jewelry at Sears, come to think of it?) and I wanted an inexpensive chain for an 8-year-old. Well, no luck with the chain, but holy moly, I who can never find a dress (either my boobs pop out or the rest of the dress is too huge, and I'm not even really stacked or anything) saw a cute one on the rack, tried it on and it fit like a glove. No lumps, no bumps, and really flattering, so guess what I did? I bought it in all 3 colors! At $22 each on sale, that's cheaper than a great day at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Also found this summer's denim skirt and a pair of Levis that fit great too, and a cute stripey shirt for $5.99. I got out of there for $120 with a nice bag full of threads. And I know I don't have to worry about anyone at work wearing the same outfit-it's pretty much all labels in my workplace. :-)
Obviously, I have no pride either, since I'm posting it here.

I know what you mean about Sears. When I go there, i wear the fake stache and glasses.

Telecommuting, and vacation plans

Telecommuting is awesome. The biggest upside to our company being bought 2 1/2 yrs ago is the ability to work from home. I don't abuse it and always get a lot more work done (no interruptions) and it's great for big projects. So, with yesterday's 9 incher, that's what I did. Randy works in downtown Boston and they said, hey, if you're not essential, don't come in. He didn't have brain surgery scheduled and neither did I (he's a regional VP and I'm a sales analyst), so we stayed home and did what we needed to get done. I always feel a little guilty or "weather-wimpy" in storms, but then I think, most employees at my corporation are women, most of them are moms, and most of them stayed home because it was a snow day. Yucky sloppy slop

I live near the coast, so instead of the 8"-to-10" of snow my neighbors to the west have the pleasure of cleaning up this fine evening, I had the unusual experience of shoveling and salting the sidewalks around the house, part of the driveway, and the stairs... IN THE DRIVING RAIN . It soaked my coat and hat all the way through. My boots are nice and drenched for tomorrow morning's commute. I can't recall a time when I have ever shoveled in the rain. It felt like 6" of snow, but was packed down to about 3" of yucky-dirty-heavy-brown-sloppy slop-slop waterlogged snow. Add to that the great joy of discovering that one of my neighbors hadn't scooped up after the dog. Nothing like throwing a nice heavy load with a nice load in it. Even though it's pouring down rain outside, it's about to deep freeze, so instead of spending 4 hours out there chopping at the ice like I did on Christmas Eve, I decided I'd rather sleep tomorrow morning. NYC Trip

Weekend in New York...my early birthday present from Randy (REALLY early, but what's time got to do with it when it's this great?!) We haven't been there together since the night Saddam Hussein was captured, so we were WELL overdue. I'm a huge Allman Brothers fan...love the music, love what it represents to me - great fun in the summertime and great times with my friends in bands past. The Holy Grail of Allman Brothers concerts is their annual run at the Beacon Theater in New York City. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this band. Yeah you might think Gregg Allman Marries Cher from the 70's and all that stuff, but these guys play freestyle, always mixing up the tunes and bringing in guests and just awesome on the stage. Anyway, Randy scored tickets (at face value no less), got us tickets for the Acela train, and a free stay at the Waldorf Astoria thanks to all his Hilton points. Pictures anyone?
