Eye troubles and a bad cold.

I don't think I can do better on this post than to copy and paste this email I sent to my friend today. Those of you who know me, know I am completely self-conscious about wearing glasses and not having makeup on, even when I go to the grocery store. I haven't had to wear glasses for 2-3 weeks straight since I was 14 in 1984. About the same time I got involved with my long-term relationship with mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow.

Hope your week got a little better this week!!! Bet you're glad it's Friday.

We have our sales meeting beginning Sunday so it's been busy, but oddly not as crazy as usual. I think we have it down!

My cold got really really bad on Tuesday and then on Wed morning my left eye swelled shut and sealed up with goop. So, Wed so I went to the doctor thinking I had strep or a sinus infection or something. She told me I had a bad cold. Great. And to stop taking the cold medicine 'cause that's what was making my face and throat so sore. Even better. Then she sent me to the eye doctor about my eye. They poked and prodded and dilated it and told me I have a viral infection in my eye and to put goop in it twice a day and not wear my contacts for 2-3 weeks. Good thing I got the glasses last year! Of course this was on the brightest day of the year so my drive home was a treat with dilated pupils. I went to lenscrafters and got prescription sunglasses that day too, which is why it's been cloudy the last two days and will rain tomorrow.

That's my excitement. Feeling a bit better. People keep telling me I look smart in my glasses. (Did I look dumb before??) And I can't see behind me when I turn around to pull out into the street.

I feel for you. I did have a love afair with eyeliner as well but I lost it about four years ago and I am still looking for it. :)

Telecommuting, and vacation plans

Telecommuting is awesome. The biggest upside to our company being bought 2 1/2 yrs ago is the ability to work from home. I don't abuse it and always get a lot more work done (no interruptions) and it's great for big projects. So, with yesterday's 9 incher, that's what I did. Randy works in downtown Boston and they said, hey, if you're not essential, don't come in. He didn't have brain surgery scheduled and neither did I (he's a regional VP and I'm a sales analyst), so we stayed home and did what we needed to get done. Worst thing I ever did as a child...or adolescent...

OK OK I lost my bet. I was gonna lose anyway even if the Pats won 'cause I gave away 7 points and they were only gonna win by 3 if they could get their heads outta their butts. So, the bet was a meme. I think of meme as a questionnaire, that gets passed around to other people, so that's the format. What is the worst thing you ever did as a child? Not appreciate the things my parents did for us when we were little. I didn't NOT appreciate them. I always liked everything they did or got for us or allowed us to do, but never saw the sacrifice that went into them. Now as an adult, and even without kids, I REALLY appreciate them now that I'm older. Things like our annual family vacations, being able to see most of our country, being together, my mom making clothes for me and cool stuff like a full ski suit or a dress from curtains for Easter, my parents signing us up for baseball and skiing lessons, bringing us to games at Fenway Park and once at Yankee Stadium. NYC Trip

Weekend in New York...my early birthday present from Randy (REALLY early, but what's time got to do with it when it's this great?!) We haven't been there together since the night Saddam Hussein was captured, so we were WELL overdue. I'm a huge Allman Brothers fan...love the music, love what it represents to me - great fun in the summertime and great times with my friends in bands past. The Holy Grail of Allman Brothers concerts is their annual run at the Beacon Theater in New York City. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this band. Yeah you might think Gregg Allman Marries Cher from the 70's and all that stuff, but these guys play freestyle, always mixing up the tunes and bringing in guests and just awesome on the stage. Anyway, Randy scored tickets (at face value no less), got us tickets for the Acela train, and a free stay at the Waldorf Astoria thanks to all his Hilton points. Pictures anyone?
