Non-concert, non-grilling, non-Red Sox-related post

I don't know if you remember me complaining about the air traffic over our abode in Somerville, ever since the new runway opened at Logan, but check this article out ... the city might sue the FAA and Massport in response to all the noise and air traffic.

My favorite part of the article:
Richard Walsh, spokesman for Massport, said the use of Runway 33L is up to the FAA, but is often determined by weather, specifically wind conditions; however, Champion disagrees: “The statistics just don't bear out that the wind patterns have changed so much that they're sending out 300 percent more operations over Somerville than they used to.”

PS-Local blog reports that Eric Clapton's yacht is in Boston Harbor tonight.

We have the same problem here. When we moved here in 2001, we'd get an occasional jet passing overhead en route to Newark. Now? One passes overhead every few minutes during peak hours.

What can you do? There's a lot more air travel than there used to be. We may see a dip in that with fuel and airfare prices on the rise, but I'm not counting on it.

I don't know how anyone can stand it. My best friend lives near JFK airport in NYC and it is so LOUD.It feels like they are going to land on the roof.

I remember when I was in Hong Kong years ago in the Navy and was shocked to find out they shut down the airport at night so people could sleep...

Perhaps that runway needs the same treatment?

Thank you for stopping by the other day!
