My plants in October

Image
Some pics from my garden and deck. Can you believe it was Oct 21? I did lots of new planting last month in the dark shaded corner of the garden, shown in the first picture. I hope to have some pretty mountain laurel flowers every spring and some nice big hostas popping up shortly after they bloom. The impatiens in front can be whatever I want each year, since they die in the fall. Next year I want to make a big carpet of them-I didn't plant these until August. The reason I took these is simple. It will brighten my day when it's dark at 4:30 and the snow is coming down.

NEXT!!!

Woohooooooo! I am LOVING this new sign! Not only did the ONE thing I wanted of the Sox this year happen (win the AL East Division) but now they're the undisputed champions of the American League! The Red Sox and Indians tied for the best record in the American League and the Sox bested them in 7 to move on to the World Series! Sox and Rocks. Who needs sleep anyway? The entire New England region got by with 5 hours or less a night for 3 weeks in '04, and it's great to be back in that daze again! Photos courtesy of Boston.com. Hope they don't mind!

No tix :-(

3.5 hours in the f'n "Virtual Waiting Room" and no tix :-( Bummer. Oh well, now I don't have to pay $4 for hot chocolate shots at Fenway.

I won!

I was gonna write a post about Lead in my Lipstick, but I checked my email just before I left work today and I WON THE RED SOX WORLD SERIES TICKET LOTTERY! The only way to get tickets for the World Series is to buy them from scalpers (expensive), buy them from ticket agencies (EXPENSIVE), or WIN the chance to buy them firsthand from the Red Sox. I won! Yay! Now all I need is to be able to get into that virtual waiting room in time to buy tix for game 1 or game 2, (or 6 or 7) and of course, for the Red Sox to win the ALCS next week. Go Sox!

I love Chicago

Just got home from there for work - the Chicago Marathon is tomorrow. 45000 of them signed up (same size as my hometown and 4000 more than Fenway Park holds, and I'm pretty much sure I met most of them today and yesterday). But anyway it's not just that, but every time I go there I get all caught up in the excitement of the city. So much going on. I love the architecture, I love how nice the people are, I love the history, I love how much stuff is going on for free and for pay, I love the lake and the use of the waterfront, I love that it's such a cool sports and music and restaurant and bar city, (even the cabbies are cool!) and I love the renaissance it's going through and how much it's changed for the better in the last 4 years. 'Nuff love? I think it's my favorite city in the U.S. now. Gotta check it out in the winter sometime to see how much worse it is than Boston. Than I can decide my favorite city. But anyway, I just wanna say how much I love
